ABOUT our story
Since 2008, Robotixlab applies innovation in the area of creative robotics applications (interactive robotics installations for museums (Polymechanon Edutainment Park, Athens – Greece), design and prototype development of an educational robot kit (Yuga Electronics, Singapore), design and implementation of a tailor made system for RTI photography (reflectance transformation imaging) and photography for VR applications (Photographer Orestis Kourakis, Thessaloniki – Greece), design and production of electronics and making kits for education (robotixlab internal projects)) and also in the field of experiential education.
We have designed and run custom made workshops, competitions, events and science and technology communication shows, using robotics, electronics, digital media, programming, making and art (Mandoulides Schools, Anatolia College, Fryganiotis Schools, Pinewood International School, Costeas Geitonas Schools, Noesis Science Museum, Goulandris Natural History Museum, Children Museum, Future Library foundation, HIVE Athens, Athens Digital Week, British Council Greece, Bulgaria and the U.K., Social Doo, The Mall) as the medium to convey skills like out of the box thinking, learning by doing, teamwork, communication, brainstorming, project planning and also teach science and technology.
ABOUT our philosophy
Robotixlab is all about merging innovation, creativity, design and technology with education. We are passionate turning education into an unforgettable experience, creating concepts based on experimentation and learning by doing, using theme based scenarios, embracing failure and promoting iterative design cycles. Robotics engineers, creative educationalists and artists work together to bring to life tailor made activities and custom made hardware . From robotics workshops to DIY electronics, from 3D design, printing and making to interactive robotic exhibits for museums and from special robots for photographers to educational robot kits for kids, robotixlab people go bananas for tinkering!
SERVICES
Creative Robotics R&D
Imagination, sensors, out of the box thinking, microcontrollers, iterative design cycles, actuators and coding applied to bring to life innovative ideas. Interactive art, gesture controlled lighting, educational robotics and electronics hardware platforms, biomimetics, environmental technology and reflectance transformation imaging are some of the fields that excite us and keep our brains busy.
Creative Curriculum Design
Applying constructionism, learning by doing and creative learning theory combined with science, technology and engineering we design and develop curriculum content for workshops. Robotics, electronics, tinkering, coding, 3D printing, videography is the medium that rolls in a theme based scenario to turn learning into a creative, personalised experience. Participants, based on the natural instinct of curiosity explore, build up knowledge and understand it deeply. STEM and STEAM related programs design, summer camp activities design, kindergarten, primary and high school extracurricular workshops design.
Edutainment workshops – events
Organizing and running edutainment workshops, shows and talks in the fields of robotics, electronics, making (3D modelling and printing), videography, hosted in schools, museums, education and culture organisations, summer camps, festivals, conferences. Use of well established platforms like Lego Mindstorms NXT, EV3 and WeDo, VEX IQ, little bits, makey-makey along with custom made robotixlab designed hardware like “tiltMe” electronics KIT, “Maya” educational robotics platform and “The Wedge” give us the opportunity to organize mind blowing, educationally rich activities.
WORKSHOPS
A Robotixlab signature designed edutainment workshop is a hands on, experimental, theme based experience. Robotixlab’s experts design and run custom made workshops based on the age range of the group (starting from 6-7 all the way to the adults world), the number of sessions to be held and any other special requests by the organisation that hosts the workshops. Our workshops keep high standards of small groups of 15, working in teams of 2-3 that give the opportunity for everybody to participate actively. A workshop can be hardware or software oriented or both and its theme can work along a particular subject the host is interested in. Scenarios ranging from the environment to the cities of the future and from game design to space engineering we dare you to challenge our wild imagination.
Our main objective, through our project based approach, is to help participants acquire an open innovative thinking mindset, learn how to cooperate and be part of a team, take responsibilities, brainstorm and tackle a problem in a lateral thinking way, test, evaluate and redesign their ideas in an iterative optimisation design cycle.
At the same time robotixlab workshops participants get a deep understanding in various areas of robotics, electronics, engineering design, coding and making following the learning by doing and experiment and redesign philosophy of our structure.
